The ancient Vedic science of Vastu is the science of five elements and ten directions. Vastu segregates certain rooms in a specific direction of the house as per the nature of activity.The roots of Vedic Vastu runs very deep and is as old as the Vedas itself. Shilpa Veda or Sthapathaveda is a sub section of Atharva Veda which specifies in the planning and designing of houses, villages and cities. There are also other important classics in Vastu such us Brihat Samhita,Vishwakarma Prakash, Mayamatam to name a view. However in the modern digital age some misinformation and distortion of facts have crept in regarding this ancient science which google also cannot possibly verify.
If we conduct a google search on the direction for master bedroom as per Vastu the results come as South West. Again when we again google for the direction of earth element , the answer comes as south west direction which also indicates stability.Several images in google clearly show the direction of earth element is South West and the direction of master bedroom is in the South West.This has been the accepted norm these days and even applied by builders advertising their buildings as Vastu compliant.
These are two major Vastu misconceptions prevailing in the general populace which in turn is also influencing google. If we look into Vastu principles as per Vedic Vastu Classics as per Bhrihat Samhita , Vishwakarma Prakash, Vastu Ratnabali e.t.c it is clearly mentioned that master bed room is to be placed in the proper south !!
The Digpala of South West is Nairriti who is a demon. Nairriti is known for raw physical strength,a wicked disposition and pure Tamasic nature.As per Vastu classics the South West direction is a designated place for an armoury , a place to store weapons and was never meant to be a bedroom !
The ruling planet of the South West is Rahu. Rahu is a demon himself and is like an expansive tornado which sucks everything in it’s path. It is repetitive in nature like a movement of a tornado and expands everything. This should not be mistaken for stability. Whatever you keep in this zone will have the tendency to expand irrespective of positive or negative nature. Another major fallacy is the direction of earth element is South West and it stands of stability and it should be made heavier compared to other zones. Vedic Vastu principles clearly dictates that direction of earth element is in the North. The West direction is for the Air element and the South direction is for the Fire element. Air and Fire and relatively much less dense than Earth and Water elements. Hence to maintain the elemental balance it is dictated that the South West zone to be made heavier. The position of the master bedroom should be in the South, period. The Deha karaka (karaka for physical body). Saturn signifies the five senses and the Sun the soul or atma karaka. South is the place where your body will get adequate rest , soothe one’s senses and connect to one’s soul.
